Erma L. Fawcett-Welz

Erma L. Fawcett-Welz, age 86, of Dover, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at the Country Club Retirement Campus, following a long illness.

Born January 31, 1927, in Gnadenhutten, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Minerva Hamilton Simmers. Erma graduated from Gnadenhutten High School, and went on to attend Columbus Business School. She was a loving homemaker and a hard worker all of her life. Erma was employed as a secretary, was owner-operator of Mid's Restaurant at Navarre, and retired from Gradall Industries after a number of years as inventory clerk. Following her retirement, she worked as a salesperson for Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Erma was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, stamp-collecting, and she especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Herbert (Karen) Fawcett of New Philadelphia, Christine (Joe) Jenkins of Westerville, Edwin Fawcett of New Philadelphia, and Pollianne (Chet) Truman of Dover, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by Edwin H. Fawcett, Warren O. Welz, her infant brother Kenny, and her two sisters, Kay (John) Risher and Eileen (Don) Grimm.
