Esther Alberta Riley, 101, of Dover died early Monday morning, August 1, 2016 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.
Born July 28, 1915 in Winfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ida Belle (Auman) Mizer. She was also preceded by a sister, Margaret Osburn.
She was secretary for the Tuscarawas County Auditor and clerk for the Tuscarawas County Commissioners for 14 years prior to raising her family.
Esther was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover. She was also formerly active in the Three Arts Club, CCL, and was Past Matron of the Cypress Order of Eastern Star in Strasburg. She was honored by the Dover Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and for her wonderful baking and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Emmet Riley who died on June 18, 2015. They were married in the Zion Lutheran Church in Winfield on Nov. 20, 1941.
She will be sadly missed by her family that includes her son, Eric and wife, Kathleen (Acker) Riley of Winfield and their children, Abigail and husband, Greg Hullinger and great grandson, Dylan of Stow and Miles Riley and his fiance, Tiffany of Dover; their daughter, Emily and her husband Todd Klopp of Ashburn, Virginia and their children, Olivia and husband, Robert Childress and Zane Klopp all of Chicago, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016 beginning at 11am in the First United Methodist Church at Dover with Rev. David St.Aubin officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday from 5-8pm and Thursday at the church from 10:30am until the time of service.
