Esther E. Ladrach, age 91, of Mineral City, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 in Community Hospice's Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born November 28, 1924, at Baltic, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Sarah Lautenschleger Snyder. Esther graduated as class salutatorian in 1942 from Baltic High School, and was employed by Baltic's General Clay Co. She married Elmer E. Ladrach on December 22, 1951. The couple purchased and moved to a farm at Mineral City, reared four children and shared fifty-two years of marriage prior to Elmer's passing in 2004.
Esther was a faithful long-time member of the Baltic Church of the Brethren (now Crosspointe Mennonite Church). She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, whose life revolved around her family. She was a voracious reader, and enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Steven) Van Bibber and Julie (Gary) Peterson, both of Dover, and Anne (Randy) Harper of Mineral City; her son, John (Wanda) Ladrach of Mineral City; her dear friend, a son by choice, Ernest "Bubba" (Christi) Humbertson of Lexington, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Mark, Todd and Chad Ladrach, Amy Jo Ladrach Boyd, Michaela Ladrach Simers, Andrew, Logan, Joseph and Angela Harper, John Kalman, Tony and Selena Peterson, Nicole Humbertson Outlaw and Cody Humbertson; her many great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold (Juanita) Snyder of Sugarcreek; and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, and her husband, Elmer, Esther was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael; and her siblings, Clara Knerr, Nellie Reidenbach, Mary Yoder, Alta Miller, Viola McCormick, Kathryn Galbreath, Bill Snyder, Nettie Miller and Irene Zeiner.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22, at 11 a.m. in Crosspointe Mennonite Church, Baltic, with Pastors Paul Miller, Larry Bradley and Brian Flood officiating. Burial will be in Baltic's Brethren Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover, on Wednesday, September 21, 5 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
