Esther L. "Sis" Froman

Esther L. "Sis" Froman, 89, of Bolivar died Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the Hennis Care Centre at Bolivar.

Born January 14, 1924 in Dover she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Rufener Longacher. Sis was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Maurice H. Froman on April 9, 2013; sons, Douglas and Kenneth Froman; brothers, Oscar and Kenneth Longacher and sisters, Elda Mizer, Frieda Kohl and Mabel Dreher.

Sis was an active member with St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served on church council. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau. Sis was very musical and could play the organ just by listening, never needing sheet music. She enjoyed baking pies, gardening and taking care of the family fruit orchard. But mostly she loved being with her family, especially riding with Maurice on the Honda Goldwing, traveling or just taking day trips to Amish Country.

Sis will be sadly missed by her children, Lillian (Ed) Galli and Maurice Jr. (Linda) Froman both of Bolivar; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and brother, Lester "Bud" (Eloise) Longacher of Dover.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22 at 11:00 am in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Pastor Gary Friend officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
