Ethel M. Hattery, 92, a life-long resident of Dover, died Monday, April 11, 2011, in Union Hospital.
Born Mar. 26, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Eleanora Pfeiffer Lengler. Ethel graduated from Dover High School, and, on Jun. 4, 1950, married Jay C. Hattery. She was a loving homemaker, devoted to her family.
Ethel was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She possessed a warm personality and always enjoyed meeting people and making new friends. She was fond of reading, watching the Indians and football games on T.V., and playing Bingo later in life.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeff (Jeanne) Hattery of Fairview Park, and Garry (Cindy) Hattery of Goshen, IN; her six grandchildren; her sister, Hattie (Dale) McDonald of Springfield; her brother, Jake Lengler of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by husband, Jay, in 1980, and by her sister, Ida Anderson.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Apr. 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Rev. Michael W. Lowry officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a reception in St. John's United Church of Christ.
