Etta J. McKain, age 91, of the Country Club Retirement Campus, Dover, and a former resident of both Port Washington and New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the Retirement Campus.

Born March 16, 1922, in Sherrodsville, she was a daughter of the late Harold Thorne and Minnie Althea Benedum Walker. Etta grew up and attended school in Sherrodsville, and, on November 3, 1939, married Richard G. McKain. The couple were parents to seven children and shared nearly forty-three years together before Richard's passing in 1982. Etta was a loving homemaker who was also employed by Snyder Manufacturing, and later by Zimmer Surgical, both of Dover, retiring after twenty-seven years of service.

In years past, she was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church, Dennison, and the Midvale V.F.W. Auxiliary. Etta enjoyed camping with her husband and belonged to the Coachman's Camping Club. Another of Etta's favorite pastimes was shopping she always knew where the bargains were.

Survivors include her daughter, Patsy J. (Robert) Felgenhauer of Sherrodsville; her four sons, James E. (Penny) McKain of New Philadelphia, Robert L. (companion Janet) McKain, Gary E. (Barb) McKain and Terry W. (Amie) McKain, both of Mineral City; her eighteen grandchildren; her numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jean Walker of New Philadelphia; and her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Richard, Etta was preceded in death by her two sons, Richard G. Jr. and Walter L. McKain; her three sisters and four brothers; and her daughter-in-law, Judy McKain.
