Eugene E. "Duby" Miller

Eugene E. “Duby” Miller, 91, of Dublin, and formerly of Dover and Strasburg, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Kobacker House in Columbus.

Born in Dover on April 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Marvin and Helen (Medam) Miller.

Duby graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1948 and later received his bachelor’s degree from Fenn College (now Cleveland State University). He was a partner at Hinig & Miller Company and then a CPA in private practice before his retirement in 2002.

He was married to Joan L. Luthy for 50 years before she preceded him in death on September 14, 2001. He later married JoAnn Waltz Luthy, who preceded him in death on April 5, 2019. Duby was also preceded in death by his brother; Wilford (Jody) Miller, and his step-daughter, Joette (Jay) Huston.

Duby was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dover where he served many years as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, and chairman of the Endowment Board. He was a past president and treasurer of the Dover Lions Club.

Duby was a talented and gifted musician and played in bands and orchestras from a very early age, beginning with his father's polka band and most recently entertaining residents of the assisted living facility where he lived.

He leaves behind his two children; Diane (Lindsey) Williams of Alpharetta, GA, and Randy (Sandy) Miller of Dublin; two step-children, Ashley (Penny) Luthy of Dover, and Wesley (Shelley) Luthy of Dover; three grandchildren, Lisa (Nathan) Hoening of Liberty Twp, Teri Miller of Columbus, and Sarah (Josh) Robinson of Nashville, TN; along with four great-grandchildren, Carmen and Emma Hoening, and twins Joanna and Cecelia Robinson.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 10-11:00 am. Rev. Bonnie Gramaldi will officiate a service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park. A meal will follow at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
