Eugene F. Shutt

Eugene F. Shutt, 77, of Dover, died Wednesday, Apr. 19, 2006, in his home.

Born Jun. 8, 1928, near Sugarcreek, he was a son of the late Herbert L. and Ruby Feller Shutt. Eugene graduated from Dover High School in 1946. On Oct. 18, 1952, he married the former Jackie Bowlus in St. John�(TM)s E.U.B. Church in Dover. Eugene worked for the City of Dover for twenty-nine-and-a-half years, retiring in 1991 as a superintendent with the service department.

Eugene attended Dover Bible Church, and was active in the local Brain Injury Support Group. He loved his grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Eugene also liked to fly remote control airplanes and helicopters. In his younger days, he was a weightlifter, and raced Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jackie; a daughter, Yvonne (Walter) Maurer of Dover; three sons, Randy (Lois “Kay”) Shutt of Dover, Brian (Connie) Shutt of Maldrow, OK, and Wayne (Marci) Shutt, of Dover; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Harmon of Dundee; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and Kenneth Shutt.

A graveside service, open to the public, will be held Friday (today), Apr. 21, at 2 p.m., in Dover Burial Park. Pastors Ed Scaglione and Jeff Matthews will officiate. Immediately following the committal, there will be a reception in Dover Bible Church, 4173 Minard Rd. N.W.
