Eva J. Longacher, 90, of Dover (Parral) died Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 in the Country Club Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
Eva was a staff nurse at the former Valley Manor Nursing Home for 17 years and also worked for the Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
Born July 3, 1930 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Lillian (Tschantz) Crites. She was also preceded by her husband of nearly 50 years, Kenneth E. Longacher who died Feb. 22, 2002; a son, Billy Longacher, a brother, James T. Crites and a sister, Doris Wassem.
Eva was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and was previously active in the Tuscarawas County YMCA. She volunteered for the Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County. Eva was a 1948 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and a 1952 graduate of the Massillon City School of Nursing. She had many interests over the years that included baking and had the nickname “Mrs. Good Cookie.” She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and was an avid reader.
She will be sadly missed by her family that includes her two children, Joan (Todd) Chumney of Dennison and Brad (Kristi) Longacher of Parral; five grandchildren, Steve (Jamie) Scott, Lindy Lane (George) Campbell and Kristy (Daniel) Brown all of Dover, Michael (Paige) Longacher of Columbus and William “Bill” Longacher of Cincinnati; four great grandchildren, Ashtyn and Taylor Scott, Jazlyn and Kalina Brown; a sister, Kay (Larry) Tedrick of New Philadelphia.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 beginning at 11am in the Dover Burial Park with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. We ask that those who attend take the necessary safety precautions and where a mask. There are no calling hours.
