Eva “Jolane” Ohliger, 89, of Bolivar passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Hennis Care Centre of Bolivar surrounded by her family, following a period of declining health.
Born December 29, 1928 in Somerdale she was a daughter of the late George and Leuretta Johnson. Jolane was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ed Ohliger; sisters, Marge St. George Stevens, Shirley Secrest, Vivian Fiddler and Joan Materna.
She grew-up in Mineral City and graduated from Mineral City High School where she was a cheerleader. Jolane married Curt Ruof in 1947, and they lived in Zoar for a brief time before moving to Dover. Later in life, Jolane married Dr. Ed Ohliger. They both eventually retired, and moved to Estero, Florida where they lived for 35 years. She enjoyed her life in Riverwood’s Plantation, she twice won the Senior Olympics in Tennis, rode her bike, walked, did pool exercise classes, danced in reviews and many more activities. She loved shopping and going to the movies with her sister Jane and friends.
Jolane is survived by her children, Dianna (Bob) Jones of Mineral City, Edgar Ruof of Fort Myers, Florida; step children, Steve Ohliger of Lohitter, North Carolina, Sharon (Tom) Northrop of Dover, Jay (Beth) Ohliger of Dover; 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
