Evelyn A. Wallick, 89, of New Dawn Retirement Community and formerly of Bell Ave., Dover died Wednesday evening, Feb. 15, 2012 following a brief illness.
Born April 14, 1922 in Sugarcreek, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Kaser) Gardner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, Charles F. Wallick who died Oct. 18, 2005, a sister, Faye Davidson, and a niece, Betty Berkshire.
Evelyn attended the Strasburg United Methodist Church and in her earlier years helped start the Berea Class and served on numerous committees. She was a graduate of Millersburg High School.
Over the years, Evelyn had many hobbies and interests including fishing, crocheting, painting, knitting, and egging and enjoyed sharing her creations with others. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for them.
She will be sadly missed by her three children and their families Charles "Frank" (Martha) Wallick II of North Canton, Don R. (Sheryl) Wallick of Strasburg and Bonnie (Jay) Parrot of Strasburg; six grandchildren, Charlie (Deanna) Wallick III of Florida, Adam (Amy) Wallick of Columbus, Ryan (Anne) Wallick of Strasburg, Brennan (Brooke) Wallick of Stillwater, Neil (Elaine) Parrot of Strasburg, Sheree (Rick) Niece of Arkansas; six great grandchildren, Emma, Teddy, Ellie, and Charlie Wallick, Lauren Blakney and Bailey Parrot; a sister in law, Faye Wallick along with many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating Evelyn's life will be held Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at 12:00pm in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynda Masters officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. She will be laid to rest privately beside her husband, Charles in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11am until the time of the service.
