Evelyn B. Halloy

Evelyn B. Halloy, age 96, of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Born January 10, 1920, at Newcomerstown, she was a daughter of the late Forrest and Gladys Edie Barnes. Evelyn graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1938, and was later married to Joseph F. Halloy. She was a loving homemaker whose life revolved around her family. Evelyn was also employed by New Philadelphia City Schools in food service.

She was a member of New Philadelphia's First Baptist Church for over 70 years, and taught Sunday school there as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and painting.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Michael Halloy of New Philadelphia, Steven (Cherie) Halloy of Stuart, Florida, and Erica Halloy of Tennessee; her great-granddaughter, Heather Halloy; her brothers, Wayne (Edna) Barnes of New Philadelphia, and Gene Barnes of Marysville; and her many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1998; her son, Jerry Halloy; and her sisters, Luciel Endres, Florence Meek and Phyllis Levengood.
