Evelyn P. Kennedy

Evelyn P. Kennedy, 90, of Dover died at her daughters home in Dover surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

Born March 10, 1919 in Canton she was a daughter of the late Harry and Helen Bole Harris. In addition to her parents, her sister, Vivian Palmer and a grandson, Clifford Minor also preceded Evelyn in death.

Evelyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and in her spare time she enjoyed cooking, needlework and making everyone laugh with her "one liners". In her younger days she was an avid golfer. Over the years, Evelyn and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States, and loved spending the winter months at their second home in Phoenix, Arizona. She was also a 1937 graduate of Canton McKinley High School.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 71 years, Raymond S. Kennedy whom she married on February 1, 1938. She is also survived by her children, Paula (husband, Jerry) Plunk of Dover. Paula and Jerry were privileged to have been Evelyn's caregiver for many years. Alan (wife, Claudia) Kennedy of Phoenix, Arizona and Diane (husband, Don) Schneck of North Canton; six grandchildren, Melissa (husband, Kevin) Ashcraft, Marcus Plunk, Scott Kennedy, Denise (husband, Shawn) Fagan, Anna (husband, Ron) Minor and Marcia Minor; four great grandchildren Tori Fagan, Nash and Matthew Minor and Aiden Ashcraft; very special friend, Susan Cox of Dennison complete the family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Chaplain Rick Brinsley officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 noon to 1:30 pm.
