Everett Dean Beitzel, 77, of Strasburg, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in Hennis Care Centre, Bolivar, after a brief illness.
Dean was born on Mar. 20, 1930 to the late Wilbur and Eunice (Bates) Beitzel, and was a life-long resident of Strasburg. He worked at the former I.F. Manufacturing Co. in New Philadelphia for thirty years until it closed, and then was employed by the Tuscarawas County Branch of Kent State University, from which he retired. Dean enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course or watching his grandchildren play sports for his favorite team, the Strasburg Tigers. He was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.
Dean will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Doris Jean (McClanahan Fivecoat) Beitzel; three daughters, Carla (Fivecoat) Cooper, Marsha (Fivecoat) Clark and Pam (Beitzel) Hawthorne; a niece, who he and Doris raised, Marty (Bolin) Payne; four grandchildren, Abby Cooper, Rick, Carly and Emma Clark; a sister, Charlene McClain; and several nieces and nephews whom her cherished.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by five brothers, Arvene, Claude, Arlington, Wilbur Jr. and Thomas Beitzel; as well as a sister, Betty (Beitzel) Bolin. He also recently lost a dear friend, John Bose, who he was grieving at the time of his own death.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg on Thursday, May 3, 6 �" 8 p.m. Dean�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Friday, May 4, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Steve Court will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. Following the committal, there will be a reception in the Strasburg United Methodist Church.
