Fay Maxine Heid, 96, of Strasburg died Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following an extended illness.
Born April 18, 1915 in Brightwood, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Addison and Etta Mae Priest Simmers. Maxine was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Heid on January 20, 2001; sisters, Bernice Nixon and Ver Redett.
She retired in 1988 as the Clerk-Treasurer from the Village of Strasburg, was a long time active member of the Church of Christ at Dover and served as the Clerk of the Strasburg School Board for many years. Maxine was also a member of the Strasburg CCL and the Strasburg Band Boosters.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Laurel Blackburn of Rockwall, Texas, Jeanette (Randy) Chapman of Dover; sons, John Heid of Brussels, Belgium and Dave (Angela) Heid of El Dorado Arkansas; brother, Roy Simmers of New Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 1:30 pm in the Church of Christ at Dover with Randy Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 5-8 pm.
