Fay R. Brode, 87, long time resident of New Philadelphia, died Friday, August 29, 2008 in Union Hospital in Dover following a long illness.
Born January, 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Esther Mueller Wascko.
She is preceded in death by her three husbands', Ian
Robertson , who died on July 9, 1944; Ralph E. Bodenweber, who died on January 23, 1970; and Harold "Joe" Brode, who died on January 15, 1990.
Fay worked for many years as a bus driver for Starlight School, and was chairman of Motor Corp. She enjoyed golfing and bowling, loved taking care of her home and working in her gardens.
She is survived by her sister; Myrle (husband, Hobart
"Butch") Trefney of Kidron, Ohio; three step children, Susan Nussbaum of Hartville, Karl Brode of Mocksville, North Carolina, Bill Brode of Mesopotamia Township, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Erica, Paul, Stacy, Faith, Crystal, Billy, and Daniel as well as many great grandchildren.
A celebration of Fay's life will be held at the Toland
Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00 am with Pastor Eldon King officiating. A committal service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
