Ferrell L. “Candle Maker” Knotts, 78, of Dover died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at the Park Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.
He retired in 1994 from the Der Candle Maker, which he owned and operated for over 20 years. Prior to that he had worked at Goodyear in Akron.
Born April 13, 1927 in Akron he was a son of the late Forrest and Zella McCraken Knotts.
He was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church in Dennison and was an Army veteran of WW II.
Ferrell was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Knotts who died on October 3, 1981, and is survived by his second wife, Leslie Anderson Knotts whom he married on December 23, 1989.
He is also survived by four sons, William (Diane) Knotts of Dover, Richard (Melissa) Bevan of Strasburg, Dennis Bevan of Dover and Jeff Bevan of Dennison; seven daughters, Rebecca (Ken) Dowler of Norton, Roberta (Bill) Myers of Florida, Pamela (Dale) Sitzlar of Dover, Robin (Mark) Handy of Georgia, Karen (Bill) Marsden of Strasburg, Pamela (Brian) Johnson of Strasburg and Miranda Jane Knotts of Dover; brother, Richard (Margaret) Knotts of California; sister, Patricia Coon of Akron; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 18 foster children.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Knotts.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover with Pastor Rod Phillips officiating. Interment of the ashes will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn. There are no calling hours.
