Florence Mae Lybarger

Florence Mae Lybarger, 101, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover following a long illness.

A daughter of the late Robert and Lottie Russell Lybarger, Florence was born in Mt Vernon, Ohio on April 15, 1907. Shortly after, the family moved to Akron where Florence was a lifelong resident until declining health made her move to Dover necessary.

Florence will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and generosity to others. When her only sister, Grace Lybarger Koons, was in failing health, Florence was tireless in her care until the end of Grace's life. She graduated from South High School in Akron and spent her working career in the Akron School system as a school secretary and later in the payroll office of the school administration. She was a member of Church of The Good Shepherd in Akron for many years. A quiet and gentle person, Florence enjoyed gardening, traveling and sewing. Later in life, she spent many hours making beautiful scrapbooks for nursing home residents.

Florence is survived by a niece, Janet Innes and her husband, Dr. David Innes, their children, Debra (Jim) May, Jonathan (Aly) Innes; nephew, Robert Koons is deceased, his wife Jennifer and their children, Kris (Chad) McCully, Cheryl (Gene) Funk, Craig (Christina) Koons and Valerie (Jon) Pensinger; 12 great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Akron with Rev. Debbie Gibbons, of Church of The Good Shepherd, officiating. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover are handling arrangements.
