Floyd L. Jones Sr., 78, of New Philadelphia died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Born April 16, 1935 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late John Jones and Daisy Yost Seibert. Floyd was also preceded in death by his wife, Marybelle Jones on July 7, 2003 along with two grandchildren, Paul Jones and Mary Smart and his son in law, Jim Balder.
He retired from Republic Engineered Steel in Massillon and was a member of the First Assembly of God in New Philadelphia, where he served as a Commander with the Royal Rangers. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was fishing and hunting or camping and water skiing Floyd always like to be surrounded by nature. Floyd was also an all-around handyman who could do anything from painting ceramics to woodworking, but mostly he enjoyed being with his family.
Floyd will be sadly missed by his children, Vivian Jones, Mary Balder and Floyd (Netter) Jones Jr. all of New Philadelphia; sister, Carol (Loren) Griesen of Dover; brother, Dick (Joni) Seibert of Uhrichsville; sister in law, Lillian Davis of New Philadelphia; special cousin, Dave Bender; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 am in the First Assembly of God at New Philadelphia with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
