Forrest D. Martin, 88, of Dover died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Park Village Health Care Center.
He had retired from Shenango Penn Mold in Dover after 27 years of service.
Born June 16, 1920 in Mineral City he was a son of the late Charles and Ella Mae Miller Martin. His wife, Ruth Martin who died on July 25, 1977, an infant son, four brothers and three sisters also preceded Forrest in death.
He was a member of the Barrs Mill Church of God in Sugarcreek and was an Army veteran of WW II having served in the Battle of the Bulge. Forrest was a hard working and loving father and grandfather who enjoyed traveling in his RV and fishing.
Forrest is survived by his sons, Gary (Sandy) Martin of Dover and Darrell (Kathleen) Martin of New Philadelphia; sister, Virginia Wherterill of Dover; five grandchildren, Ashley, Kevin and Chris (Kate) Martin, Amy (Bob) Russell and Mike Aul; three great grandchildren, Max and Bobbie Russell and Eve Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor John Majeski officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Following the burial a luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
