Frances Louise Swinderman

Frances Louise "Boom" Swinderman, age 89, of Sebring, and a former resident of Dover, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in Crandall Medical Center, Sebring.

Born February 13, 1921, in New Philadelphia (Oldtown Valley), she was a daughter of the late Forrest and Anna Haney Espenschied. Frances attended school in Penobscot, and, on May 30, 1941, married Walter "Tut" Swinderman. She was employed by the Alfred Nickles Bakery of Navarre, and for many years by the former M & N Dry Cleaners of Dover. Frances moved to Crandall Medical Center in Sebring in 2005.

She and her husband Walter belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover, and were long-time members of the Tuscarawas County Saddle Club. Frances enjoyed bowling, family fishing trips to Canada, playing cards as well as the lottery and trips with Walter to Wheeling Downs to watch the Greyhound races. Frances loved all animals, but especially her cats and her very special Boxer, Julie.

Frances is survived by a sister, Violet Haller of Sebring, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved Walter in 2003, following sixty-two years of marriage; and by three sisters, Bernice Carmola, Kathryn Zeigler and Erma White.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, October 21, 6 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 22, at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Amey of Damascus United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
