Francis A. Brown, 56, of New Philadelphia, Ohio died Sunday, March 11, 2007 in Union Hospital following an extended illness.
Born October 6, 1950 in Cambridge, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry and Iris Miller Brown.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam era. He was a member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans). He attended the Christian Fellowship in Uhrichsville.
Francis is survived by his wife, Janet Wagner Brown with whom he celebrated 18 years of marriage on May 10; five children Marcina A. (Wayne) Shutt of Dover, Francis A. Brown II, Timothy R. (Annette) Brown, Stacy M. (Brian) Kohl, Christopher L. (Ellie) Brown all of Gnadenhutten; three stepchildren, Michael B. Swegheimer of Dover, Charlton R. Bevan and Terry L. Drabic both of New Philadelphia; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Harry E. (Judy) Brown of West Milton, Ohio, David W. Brown of Tuscarawas, Dixie L. Brown of Dover, Gerald E. Brown of Port Washington, Kay L. (Dan) Harmon of Dover, Mary R. (Daniel) Chitti of New Philadelphia, and Thomas J. Brown of Akron; fourteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Francis was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kristen A. Brown, one niece, Tammy Billiter Nealey Oliver, and a nephew, Brandon Brown. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Minnie Moore Brown and Ira W. and Bertha Harbold Miller.
The Dover VFW will conduct military honors for Francis Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 3pm at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. Cremation will follow services. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1-3pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
