Frank Graham, 79, of Bolivar, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover.
Born Sept. 4, 1923 in Canton, he was the son of the late Frank Leslie and Hilda Killian Graham. Frank attended Minerva High School, and served honorably with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a boiler man in the Navy, saw action at Normandy and was wounded in the service of his country. Frank was as a self-employed distributor for the former Standard Oil Company of Ohio. He was also employed by Kempthorn Motors of Canton, and was a farmer.
Frank was a member of the former St. Stephen�(TM)s Church in Bolivar, and was presently a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Zoar. Frank enjoyed walking, often covering five miles a day all over Bolivar. He was a self-taught guitar player, who sang and enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude E. Betz Graham, whom he wed Sept. 4, 1945; three daughters, Gayle (Ken) Low of Raleigh, NC, Phyllis (James) Kline of Magnolia, and Cindy (Randy) Bates of Perry Twp., Stark Co.; four granddaughters and four grandsons; a great-grandson; and one great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Yvonne (George) Durrant of Wooster, and Kathleen (Carl) Wanner of Magnolia; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son son, James Anthony Graham (Cindy�(TM)s twin), and by a sister, Marie Jackson.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m., in the Church of the Holy Trinity, 1835 Dover-Zoar Rd. N.E., Zoar, with Fr. Ed Keck officiating. Those planning to attend are instructed to go directly to the church the morning of the Mass. Burial will be in Fort Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar, where military rites will be conducted. There will be a meal in the church following the committal. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 18, 5-8 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover.
