Frank D. “Chink” Cugliari, 94, a lifelong resident of Dover died Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 at Park Village Assisted Living in Dover following a period of declining health and complications from Covid.
He retired from the City of Dover as an employee of the Safety Department after many years and had previously been employed at the former Weinsz Motor Car Co. for 27 years.
Born August 28, 1927 in Dover, he was the son of the late Dominic and Margareta (Pace) Cugliari.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and was a longtime usher, member of the St. Joe’s Men’s Club, and supporter of the Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School Booster Club. Frank was one of the last surviving Charter Members of the legendary 7th St. Tigers. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army and had many interests that included repairing and restoring cars, gardening, rooting on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Cleveland Indians, and attending his children and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. Frank loved sitting in his chair on his front porch and greeting people as they walked and drove by. He enjoyed chatting with people and no one was a stranger to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie “Peg” Reinhart Cugliari of nearly 70 years. They were married on August 18, 1951 and she preceded him on Aug. 25, 2020. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Herman “Rick” Cugliari and five sisters, Anna Patacca, Theresa Blauch, Norma Specht, Josephine Cugliari and Victoria Alesiano.
Frank will be sadly missed by his family that include three children, Frank (Christine) Cugliari of Coshocton, Margaret Ann “Meg” Cugliari and Jim (Mary) Cugliari both of Dover; seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Terina, Ann, Brian, Breanna, Danielle and Andrew; sister, Marge (Cugliari) Helmick of Mount Dora, Florida; in laws, Bonnie (Larry) Gwynn of Dover and Margaret Cugliari of Dover and Betty Reinhart of Massachusetts.
Frank’s family thanks the staff at Park Village and Community Hospice for the wonderful care their father received.
