Frank H. Klapper, Junior of Dover, formerly of Strasburg, Ohio passed away at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s on March 8, 2024. .
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida (Kathy) Kail Klapper; his father, Franz H. Klapper; his mother, Hedwig Gritzan Klapper; his brother, Rudy Klapper; sister-in-law Dee Klapper; his daughter, Terri Hartman; and step-son, Chris Elesky.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Klapper who he married on July 13, 2019; his son, Erik Klapper (Connie), his step-daughter, Dawn Elesky; along with his grandchildren; Kelsey (Chris) Bradison, Hayden Hartman, Kyle (Sarah) Klapper, Kristofer Klapper, Kaitlyn Klapper, Matt Hartman, step-grandchildren, Robert “Robby” (Alexandria) Elesky, and Austin (Holly) Elesky, Michelle Steed, and Jake Dorn and numerous great-grandchildren.
Frank attended Canton South High School and graduated from Strasburg High School with the class of 1958. After graduation he attended Miami of Ohio University for 2 years.
He was the former owner of the Strasburg Provision, a business started by his father and mother. With the help of his family members, the business prospered for many years and was well known for their great hot dogs. Frank also began the Frank’s Hog Roasting business and catered many parties. Frank was a kind, gentle man who also could be a hard taskmaster, and a generous person to those who sometimes needed a hand up.
He enjoyed poker playing, golf with more clubs in his bag than any man should be able to carry. His yard was a beautiful site with many beautiful dahlias he planted each year. He also enjoyed trap with his brother, Rudy, and bowling with his cousins.
Frank enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter with his family and visiting with friends while there. He went to Europe with his wife, Kathy, and traveled throughout many countries and visited relatives there.
In his retirement years, he traveled with Jackie to Ireland and made trips to Oregon with his brother, Rudy, and wife, Dee, to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.
Frank was a lifetime member of the New Apostolic Church and had an unwavering faith in God.
Frank’s family would like to express their appreciation to his caregivers; Kim, Sharon, and Lyn for their support and continued laughs while he was in their care.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 with Priest Larry Ehmer and Deacon Walter Gritzan officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the social hall at the funeral home.
