Frank L. Festi, 87, of Dover died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He never showed despair, voiced anger, or sought sympathy; instead, he put his faith in God and fought to the end. Today he enjoys the reward for his faithfulness as he returns to God's Heavenly Kingdom.
Born December 20, 1927 in Dover he was a son of the late Illuminato "John" and Margaret Zambotti Festi. Frank was also preceded in death by his sister, Lena Antonelli and three brothers, Virgil, Lee and Louis Festi.
He retired in 1992 from Union Camp as Chief Mechanic after 48 years of service. Frank started his career on the afternoon shift as a junior in high school, with his only absence being the two years he spent in the US Army serving as a member of the occupational forces in Japan at the end of WW II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Central Catholic Booster Club and the Dover VFW. Frank enjoyed fishing, watching the Indians and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. As a dedicated family man, Frank went to great lengths to attend scholastic and athletic events to show his support for his children and grandchildren.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and papa, Frank will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Angeline Battalio Festi whom he married on October 29, 1949; children, Brenda (Dr. Randall) Hastedt of Worthington, Frank (Spring) Festi of Medina, Thomas (Lisa) Festi of Powell; brothers, Ralph (Marie) Festi and John Festi both of Dover; grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Kistler, David (Debbie) Hastedt, Alison (Sean) Miller, Tiffany (Brendan) Barker, Mark, Sarah and Lauren Festi; seven great grandchildren; best friend, Adam Amistadi and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 4 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Sunday from 2-4 pm with a Christian Wake service starting at 3:45.
