Frank L. Geltz, 78, of Dover, Ohio passed away at Aultman Hospital on Sunday, September 21, 2008.

Frank was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on September 21, 1930, the son of the late Frank and Margaret (McHale) Geltz. After high school, Frank served as a Tuscarawas County deputy sheriff and was very active in politics in his early adult life. For more than thirty years, Frank was employed by the State of Ohio as a review appraiser at the Columbus Central Office of the Ohio Department of Transportation, retiring as the Senior-Rite-of-way and served as a member of the International Rite-of-Way Association for many years.

Frank served as a community leader, serving as the President of many civic clubs including the Dover Lions Club, Dover Kiwanis Club and the Tuscarawas County Philharmonic Association. He was also a member of the Akron Tadmor Shrine and a 32nd decree Mason of the Valley of Canton Scottish Rite and New Philadelphia Lodge 177.

On November 24, 1963, he married Georganne H. (Race) Geltz, who passed away on September 14, 2002.

Surviving is a sister; Shirley (Charles) Baumer of Coshocton, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; two cousins, Vivian Geltz of Canton, Ohio and Robert Geltz of New Philadelphia, Ohio as well as his beloved canine companion, Toby.

He is preceded in death by his brother, James Cox; his sister, Mildred Mercer; and his niece Mary Margaret (Baumer) Elvin.

A celebration of Frank's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. Danny Grine of the Anchor Baptist Church in Massillon officiating. Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, (Today) September 23, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
