Frank Rossi, age 88, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, in Dover’s Hennis Care Centre.
Born February 20, 1930, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Saturno and Adeline Migliori Rossi. Frank moved with his family at a young age to Dover and graduated from Dover High School in 1948. He went on to serve honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On February 19, 1955, Frank married the former Gail Zimmerman, who survives, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Frank was employed by the Union Camp Corporation in Dover for over 40 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover, and its senior citizens group. Frank also belonged to the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens and the Tuscarawas County Y.M.C.A.
In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by his children, Stephen (Annette) Rossi of Rockaway, New Jersey, Michael (Cyndi) Rossi of Copley, and Linda (Alan) Little of Dover; his grandchildren, Thomas (Erin) Rossi, Jeffrey (Ashley) Rossi, Gregory (Stephanie) Rossi, Kyle Rossi and Katherine Little; his great-grandchildren, Kylie, Lucas, Emma, Adriana and Zosia Rossi - and another great-grandchild expected in May; his sister-in-law, Bernice Zimmerman; his brothers-in-law, Ted “Popeye” Rondinella and Don Matchett; and his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Alverda Zimmerman; his sister, Mary Rondinella; his sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Bryce Dreher; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dola and Bert Shanower; his sister-in-law, Arlene Zimmerman Stein Matchett; and his brother-in-law, Dwight James Zimmerman.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Friday, March 16, 6 – 8 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7:45. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
