Fred Altier

Fred Altier, age 90, of New Philadelphia, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, in Park Village Southside.

Born June 30, 1927, he was a son of the late Dominic and Jenny Franzo Altier. Fred graduated from Dover High School and was a long-time employee of the Shenango Penn Mold Co., Dover, from which he retired. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, and was devoted to his family. Fred enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and boating.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, JoAnne Myers Altier, whom he married on July 10, 1948; his grandson, Michael (Sara) Altier of Hilliard; his great-grandsons, Nathan, Alex and Tyler Altier; his daughter-in-law, Ann Altier of New Philadelphia; his sister, Mary Jane (Leonard) Margletta of Dover; his sister-in-law, Ida Altier also of Dover; and his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his son, David Altier; and his brothers, Leonard and Gene Altier.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, Dover; Fr. William L. Arnold will officiate. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard, Dover.
