Fred L. Hepner, Sr.

June 17, 1931 — September 29, 1999

Fred L. Hepner, 68 of 220 E. 8th St. (Rear), Dover, died Wednesday, September 29, 1999 in Union Hospital following a brief illness.

He was a retired employee of Massillon Steel Casting Company where he worked for 19 years.

Born June 17, 1931 in Carrollton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry and Laura Tucker Hepner, Sr.

Fred was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, B&A Primitive Weapons, and the Dundee Bow hunters.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an excellent archer.  He also enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Stingel Hepner with who he celebrated 45 years of marriage on August 1.

Other survivors include:
5 children- Fred (Stephanie) Hepner, Jr. of DeSoto, Texas, Barbara (CSM James) Green of Ft. Polk, La., Lora (Mark) Loos, Pamela Haepner and Donna Walton all of Dover.
5 grandchildren- Jason Green of Columbus, Nathan Green of Ft. Polk, Chris Cody Loos and Nichole Walton all of Dover.
3 sisters- Lena (Cleveland) Pierce of Sunrise, FL., Midge Benson of Yuma, Az., and Marge (Thomas) White of Bonita Springs, Fla.

He is also survived by his avid fishing buddy, Gene Smart of Dover (Columbia) and his helpful friend, Jerry Morris of Dover.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Jr., Charles and William Hepner.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 4, at 11am in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating.  Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park.  Friends may call in the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8pm.
