Fred W. Pope, 62, of Dundee died Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the Community Hospice House following a 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born July 18, 1951 in Dover he was a son of the late William "Russ" and Eva Gehring Pope.
Fred was the owner and operator of A & F Painting in Beach City for over 30 years and was well known for his attention to detail and his ability to paint just about anything a customer would want. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1970 graduate of Garaway high School and proudly served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War. Fred loved life and the company of his family and friends. He especially enjoyed Walleye fishing in Canada, hiking in the Smokey Mountains and working in his vegetable garden. But one of his greatest passions in life was spending quality time at the cabin he and Ann built. Together, they hosted many social events and parties with family and friends.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Fred will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 43 years, Ann Loibl Pope, whom he married on August 7, 1971; sons, Mark (Brenda) Pope and Tim (Michelle) Pope both of Dundee; brothers, Larry Pope of Strasburg, Jim (Linda) Pope of Navarre and Danny (Ida) Pope of Dundee; sister, Barb Gish of New Philadelphia and grandchildren, Easton, Brady, Nadia, Jenna, Kaley, Elizabeth and Nikki.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover.
