Freddie E. Fisher, 75, of Dover, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1934, in Sugarcreek, he was a son of the late Clayton E. and Ruth Finzer Fisher. Freddie graduated from Dover High School in 1952. He was employed by the City of Dover, Atwood Lake Resort, Oak Shadows Golf Club and Union Country Club - from which he retired in 2002. Freddie was a small engine wizard, working his magic on mowers, golf carts and other like-powered devices. In his younger days, he spent many happy hours working on and riding dirt bikes and motorcycles.
Freddie was a former member of the Singing Wheels Motorcycle Club, as well as the Eagles and Moose Lodges of Dover. In addition to his fondness for motorcycles, he liked to hunt, camp and go bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Davis Fisher, whom he married in 1984; three daughters, Patti (Rick) Grove of Clifton, AZ, Ida (Dan) Pope of Dundee, and Lori (Jim) LeBlanc of Dover; three sons, Greg Fisher of Barnhill, Mike (Patty) Fisher and Tim (Shelly) Fisher, both of Dover; nine grandchildren, Ronnie (Angela) Fisher, Mike, Jeremy and Shane Fisher, Josh Stingel, Austin Fisher, Sean and Kristofer Swinderman and Jaelyn Feebish; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Jack) Shores of Dover; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara, and a granddaughter, Mistee Fisher.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Sugarcreek. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
