Frederic J. "Jim" Strother, 66, of New Philadelphia died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
Born November 9, 1946 in Dover he was a son of the late Russell and Sylvia Hardwidge Locker and Bernard Strother. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Peggy Strother.
He retired from the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local #495 in Cambridge after 23 years of service. Jim loved everything about being outdoors, especially his horses, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was also a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Army.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Frantz Strother, whom he married on May 25, 1968; daughter, Kari (Eric) Kinsey of Dover; sister, Linda Widder of Bolivar; two grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Kinsey; niece, Kim (Tom) Ness; nephew, Kevin (Anna) Widder; great nieces and nephews, Jordan and Kattie Ness and Adam and Allyson Widder and his aunt, Emma Myers.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 4 at 6:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Following the service, a funeral dinner will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-6 pm.
