Frederick “Terry” Capozella, 70, of Dover died Friday, October 7, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.
He retired in 1992 from Greer Steel after 28 years of service.
Born May 25, 1935 in Dover he was a son of the late John and Loretta Murphy Capozella.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Terry was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Through the years he coached Jr. high football at St. Joseph School and was a strong supporter of Catholic education. An avid golfer and sports fan, he loved to watch football, especially Notre Dame and Mt. Union.
Terry will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Rachel Ickes Capozella whom he married on June 17, 1961; his five sons, Colin Capozella of Columbus, David (Barbara) Capozella of Dayton, Daniel (Jill) Capozella of Dover, Joseph (Julie) Capozella of Palmyra, Virginia and Stephen (Amy) Capozella of Powell; two daughters, Maureen (Mike) Perkowski of Dover and Carolyn (John) Dysart of Alexandria, Virginia; three brothers, John (Sue) Capozella of New Philadelphia, Tom (Kate) Capozella of Dover and Dennis (Shawna) Capozella of Bradenton, Florida; four sisters, Kathy (Bill) Thomas of Dover, Felicia Floyd of New Philadelphia, Joanne (Milton) Hamilton of Hollister, California and Angela (Steve) Rampy of Lubbock, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Mikey and Dean Perkowski, Caleb, Joshua, Aaron, Noah, Viviana “Queen”, Carlo, Gabrielle and Jacob Capozella, Robert and Baby Boy Dysart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Capozella.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Following the mass, the body will be cremated through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Monday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm. Christian Wake services will start at 7:45 pm.
