Frederick Davis Sr., 80, of Canton, Ohio and a former Dover resident died suddenly Friday, June 15, 2001 in Gulf Coast Medical Center at Panama City, Florida while visiting his daughter.
He retired in 1983 from the Ohio Dept. of Transportation where he was an Electronics Technician. He also owned and operated Davis Radio and TV in Dover.
Born March 3, 1921 in Newcomerstown, Ohio, the son of the late Abe and Dorothy Arbajy Davis.
He was a member of the St. Paul�(TM)s Catholic Church in Canton and formerly attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. He was graduate of Newcomerstown High School and was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Dover VFW, Canton Eagles Lodge and was a Ham radio operator.
Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie (Polce) Davis who died Dec. 11, 1985. He is survived by his wife Norma Jo McCullough Davis with whom he celebrated 12 years of marriage on Feb. 14.
He is also survived by two sons Edward A. (Lyndal) Davis of Pickerington and Fred (Mary Ann) Davis of Dover and his daughter, Dorothy Davis of Panama City Beach, Florida
Three stepsons Michael Hambach of Winchester, Va., David Hambach of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Paul Hambach of Massillon
One Brother and three sisters, Mitchell Davis, Alice, Norma, and Theresa Davis all of Miami, Florida
Eight grandchildren and one great grandson
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, June 21, 2001 at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Wednesday from 6-8 pm where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7:45 pm.
