Frederick E. Swegheimer

Frederick E. Swegheimer, 76, of Dover died Monday, December 30, 2013 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.

Born September 24, 1937 in Dover he was a son of the late Albert and Caroline Rentsch Swegheimer. Fred was also preceded in death by his daughter in law, Sandra Swegheimer.

He was a 1956 graduate of Dover High School and attended Ohio State University and Kent State University. Following his education, Fred entered the real estate market and for the next 40 years he was the owner and operator of Swegheimer and Associates Real Estate. He was active with different real estate organizations including serving as president of the Tuscarawas County Board of Realtors. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Dover Historical Society and was a life member of the Dover Elks. In his younger years he had an adventurous side, having been a Golden Glove boxer, stock car driver and a scuba diver. Fred loved sports, especially watching his beloved Dover Tornadoes, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

Fred will be sadly missed by his children, Ron Swegheimer and his fianc Victoria Cole of Byesville, Jeff Swegheimer of New Philadelphia and Beth (Jeff) Hunter of Columbus; brothers, Bill (Barb) Swegheimer and Dan (Debbie) Swegheimer both of Dover; grandson, Scott Swegheimer; granddaughters, Kim Bush and Kelly Bales and his former wife, Barbara Swegheimer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Dotty Hartzell officiating. Friends can call in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
