Frederick James "Jim" Bierie

December 18, 1932 — March 3, 2022

Frederick James “Jim” Bierie, 89, of Dover passed away at The Inn of Northwood Village in Dover.

Born on December 18, 1932, he was the son of the late Frederick “Fred” and Hazel (Cook) Bierie. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Raymond Polly.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He honorably served our country in the United States Navy. He retired in 1992 from Greer Steel, where he was a manager for many years.

Jim was an active member of the Dover community. He served as the Exalted Ruler for the Dover Elks, Trustee, and advanced through all of the chairs. He was also a member of the Dover Tornado Club, Dover Eagles, New Philadelphia Elks, and St. John’s United Church of Christ of Dover. He loved to golf and was proud to have had two holes in one at Willandale Golf Course.

He leaves behind his wife, Helen (Polly) Bierie, whom he married on August 3, 1957; his daughter, Polly (Jeff) Bok of Dover; his brother, Lee (Judy) Bierie of Columbus; two grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Clugston of Dover and Josh Bok of Columbus; along with his three great-grandchildren, Grady, Keegan, and Paxton.

In honoring Jim’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted with the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. In urnment will take place in the mausoleum at Dover Burial Park. To sign an online guestbook for Jim, visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.
