Frederick L. Dick

Frederick L. Dick, 81, of Schneider's Crossing Rd., Dover, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, February 28, 2000 in his home following an extended illness. He was born February 22, 1919 at Hopewell, Ohio, a son of the late Laysel & Zetta Hibbs Dick. Fred was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church and a member of the American Truck Historical Society. He retired from Central East Coal Co. as president and owner. Prior to that he had worked at Copperhead Coal Co. After retiring in 1979, he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida along with gardening and antique truck restoration. A very caring and giving person, he enjoyed life in itself and will be sadly missed by family and friends. Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cora M. King Dick, with whom he would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on March 15. Other survivors include: A daughter Mrs. Donald (Linda) Maughan of Dover Son L. Douglas & Linda Dick of Dover Brother Owen E. Dick Sisters Mrs. Arthur (Evelyn) Ankrum Dorothy Schenk, all of Zanesville 3 granddaughters Darcy Neff, Mrs. Troy (Jessica) Shumaker & Carly Ann Dick 3 great grandchildren & many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Robert B. Dick and a sister, Charlotte Shaw. In keeping with Fred's wishes, his body will be cremated. A public memorial service will be held Thursday, March 2, at 2:00pm in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. LuAnn Youngman and Pastor Dan Legg officiating.
