Frederick R. “Fred” Day, 80, of New Philadelphia and a two year resident of Sherrodsville, died Thursday, March 24, 2005.
He retired in 1984 from the former Espenschied Oldsmobile after nearly twenty years of service.
Born June 3, 1924 at New Philadelphia, Fred was the son of the late Adam & Beulah Blanche Day.
He honorably served his country during World War II as one of the Army�(TM)s brave men who took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the New Philadelphia post of the American Legion.
Survivors include: three sons, Paul (Julie) Day of Virginia Beach, VA, Craig (Terri) Day of New Phila, and Vincent (Rhonda) Day of Stone Creek; two daughters, Dixie (Jack) Lamb of Sherrodsville, and Nancy (Carl) Reinemann of Chardon; a brother, Charles (Betty) Day of Virginia; sister, Bertha (Oscar) Williams of Florida; a half-sister, Norma Jean Ellis of Harlem, Montana; seven grandchildren, Jason Huff, Trishia Day, Nicholas Day, Jacob Reinemann, Jonathen Day, Jennifer Day, and Sarah Day; and a great grandson, Jordan Timothy Huff.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by: his former wife, Shirley Day; a daughter, Mary Day; and a brother, Delbert Day.
The New Philadelphia VFW will conduct Military graveside services honoring Fred�(TM)s life on Tuesday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Avenue Cemetery. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 East High Ave., New Philadelphia on Saturday from 2-5 p.m.
