Freida J. Harmon, age 80, of Dover, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, in Mercy Medical Center, Canton, following a long illness.
Born September 12, 1937, in Fostoria, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Gertrude Ropp Lampe. Freida moved at a young age to Dover where she graduated High School, she then went on to study at Kent State University. Freida was a bookkeeper working for local medical offices, including those of Yogendra and Pratima Shah, and she served on the board of directors of the DoverPhila Federal Credit Union.
When her children were young, Freida was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed bowling, and was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed bingo and trips to Las Vegas.
Survivors include her sons, Hal (Kim) Harmon of Dover, and Rick (Dawna) Harmon of Uhrichsville; her grandchildren, Travis (Gia) and Emily Harmon, Kayla and Kolton Nay, and Scott and Justin Hendrix; her great-granddaughter, Harper Schaffer; her sister, Barbara (Harry) McNutt; and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Freida was preceded in death by her husband of nearly thirty years, Richard E. Harmon, on January 2, 1987; and her son, Robert Harmon.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, September 9, 2 - 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 10, at 1:30 p.m., in the funeral home.
