Freida Maurer, 98, of Dundee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2007.
Born July 5, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Angeline Schrock Troyer. Freida now joins her husband of sixty-seven years, Harry Maurer, who passed into eternity on September 30, 1994.
Freida was a homemaker �" a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She was a life-long member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek. Freida was also a charter member of the Pythian Sisters in Sugarcreek, a member of the Winfield Grange and Farm Bureau Council 27.
She is survived by her children, Catherine Korns Meryo of Dover, and Eugene Maurer of Dundee; ten grandchildren, Virginia (Ed) Paris of Dover, Barbara Korns of Morehead City, NC, Connie (Frank) Miller of Xenia, Becky (Jim) Johnson of Massillon, Marcia (Jim) Loveday of Dundee, Judy (Bob) Ren of Dover, Patti (Lincoln) Rutter of Blaine, WA, Dale (Peggy) Korns of New Philadelphia, David (Denise) Korns of Hilliard, and Jimmy (Wanda) Meryo of Dover. Fifteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren complete Freida�(TM)s family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Harry, Freida was preceded in death by her step-mother, Evea Crites Troyer; step-brothers, Jay and Thurman Crites; sons-in-law, Robert Korns and James Meryo; a great-grandson, and a great-great-grandson.
Freida�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Revs. Welton Stein and LuAnn Youngman officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery near her home in Dundee. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
