G. Douglas Cathis

G. Douglas Cathis, 75, of Dover passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Union Hospital following an extended illness.

Born on March 21, 1938 in Golden Pond, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Bertis and Claudia (Thompson) Cathis. He is also preceded in death by two sisters; Melodeen Brandis, Ada Gullion; and a nephew, Marvin Randolph.

He graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland, and later attended Akron University. He served our country in the United States Army. On April 30, 1961, he married the love of his life, Marianne Rommel, who survives.

He was retired from his small family business, Contract Masters Inc., where he was the owner and project manager.

In addition to his wife, Marianne, he will be sadly missed by his children; Douglas (Kazumi) Cathis of Dublin, Lauren Cathis of Canton, Jeffrey Cathis of Columbus, Christopher (Piyasuda) Cathis of Dover; four grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher, Jadelyn, and Jephers Cathis; his nephew, Michael (Gloria) Randolph of Macedonia; along with a great-nephew, Zackary Randolph.

A celebration of Douglas' life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Stan Kashuba officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
