Gary L. Cercone

Gary L. Cercone, 72, of Dover died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his home.

Born May 25, 1943 in Dover he was a son of the late Frank and Doris Murray Cercone.

Gary retired from Reeves after 32 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked at Wayne Dalton for another 17 years. He was a member of the YMCA for over 65 years where he was a swimming and gymnastics instructor and was still teaching swimming lessons up until his illness. Gary was also a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover and attended New Pointe Community Church. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army.

Gary will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Whitmore Cercone whom he married on February 11, 1968; children, Mark (Beth) Cercone of Lake Stevens, Washington, Jennifer Cercone of Dover; brother, Jim (Sherry) Cercone of Dover; grandchildren, Joshua, Amara, Matteo and Milana Cercone.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 27 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor John Wallace officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
