Gearldean Andreas

Gearldean Andreas of Strasburg, 89, passed away peacefully, at Union Hospital with her family around her on May 3rd, after a period of declining health.

Gearldean was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Holloway, OH to James W. and Hazel (Rankin) Piatt. She graduated from Canton Township School (now Canton South) in 1938.

On April 13, 1939, Gearldean married Kenneth E. Parrot of Beach City who died on January 4, 1982. In 1989 she married Ranson Andreas of Sugarcreek who preceded her in death in 1993.

Gearldean and Kenny owned and operated a dairy farm north of Strasburg for almost 40 years. They also owned the Beach City Airport for a number of years. She loved helping on the farm, gardening, cooking for her family, and spending time with her friends.

She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church where she was active for many years. She was also a member of the Beach City Lions Club, the Sorosis Club of Strasburg, and "The Gang," a card group of high school friends who met and played cards monthly for over 60 years.

Surviving are two children Jay (Bonnie) L. Parrot of Strasburg and Darlene (Noel) McDowell of Wooster; 4 grandchildren Neil (Elaine) Parrot of Strasburg, Sheree (Rick) Niece of Clarksville, AR, Devon (Brandon) Grosjean of Wooster, and Heather (Ben) Drown of Wooster; and 3 great grandchildren Lauren Blakney, Bailey Parrot, and Reilly Grosjean.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Piatt, and an infant sister, Evalyn Piatt.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynda K. Masters officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Toland Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover.
