Gene A. Mears

Gene A. Mears, 81, of Dover, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, June 19, 2010 in the Park Village Health Care Center following a long battle with cancer.

Gene retired in 1984 from LTV Steel (formerly Republic Steel Company) in Massillon following 37 years of service.

Born February 14, 1929 in Strasburg, he was the son of the late Fred and Blanche (Dick) Mears.

He is survived by his wife Patricia "Pat" Snyder Mears with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on August 1; two sons, Jim (wife, Karen) Mears of Columbus and Scott Mears of the home. Gene will be remembered as having dedicated his life to his family.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral services celebrating Gene's life will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Dr. William C. Haggis officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 10-11am.
