Gene D. Grimm, 80, of Estero, Florida and formerly of Strasburg died Nov. 14, 2012 in Florida following complications from multiple illnesses.
Gene was born January 29, 1932 in Dover, Ohio, the son of the late Vernon and Mary (Hartman) Grimm.
He retired from the Dover City Schools where he was Superintendent of Building and Grounds for twelve years. He had previously been employed with the DM Waltz Drilling of Strasburg.
He attended the First Baptist Church in Estero and the Alpine Bible Church in Sugarcreek, Ohio. He was also a charter member of the Pine Hill Hunting Club in Dover.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife Margaret "Peg" (Plotner) Grimm with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage this Dec. 19; three daughters, Bobbi (David) Milla of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lee (Chuck) McCaslin of Dundee, OH and Beth Oakley of Bolivar, OH: a son, Todd (Brinda) Grimm of Grand Rapids, MI; five brothers, Jack Grimm of Finley, OH, Max Grimm of Reno, NV, Tom (Etta) Grimm of Dover, OH, Bob Grimm and Marion Grimm both of Sparks, NV and Russell "Jim" (Kay) Grimm of Dover, OH three sisters, June Becker of Dover, OH, Jane (Dan) Mason of Dover, OH and Nancy (John) Goss of Dover, OH; nine grandchildren, Anthony and Skyler Milla, Gwyn and Theo McCaslin, Tasha Snyder, Nathan and Josiah Grimm, Emily and Jason Oakley along with four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother (Dale (Martha) Grimm and sister, Doris Berkey; sisters in law, Kate and Marge Grimm and brother in law, Bob Becker along with a son, David Grimm and a granddaughter, Abigail Pullins.
A memorial service celebrating Gene's life will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 beginning at 11am in the Alpine Bible Church at Sugarcreek with Pastor Byron Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 23 from 4-7pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover and Saturday at the church from 10-11am.
