Gene F. Jasper, 79, of New Philadelphia died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Aultman Hospital.

He had retired from Alsco-Anaconda in Gnadenhutten.

Born November 26, 1928 in Pulaski County, Kentucky he was a son of the late Amos and Hattie Wallace Jasper. Gene was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sarah J. “Sally” Jasper who died on June 29, 2004; sister, Beryl Cooper and his stepmother, Arletta Jasper.

He was a member of Fry�(TM)s Valley Moravian Church where he sang in the choir. He served his country in the Army during WW II and was a member of the Tuscarawas VFW. Gene also served on the board and was past president of Horizons Inc. One of Gene�(TM)s passions was sports, he was actively involved with the Indian Valley sports programs and was a loyal booster. He also volunteered his time with the Special Olympics and was a basketball coach at Starlight.

Gene is survived by sons, Thomas, wife Vicki Jasper of Gahanna, OH, Brian, wife Robynn Jasper of Marysville, OH, Ronald, wife Virginia Jasper of Walton Hills, OH �" Steven of Evansville, IN- Gerald “Gerry” of New Philadelphia, his daughter, Vicki, husband Jeff Rankin of Milford, OH and daughter in law Vickie Jasper of Mt. Vernon, IN.
Gene also has 11 grandchildren, including granddaughters Dawn, husband Scott Warmbier of Reynoldsburg, OH, Stacey Jasper of Columbus, OH, Heather Jasper of Columbus, OH, Erin Rankin of Arlington, VA, Grandsons, Brian, wife Bethany Jasper, Gahanna, OH- Christopher, wife Vanessa Jasper of Coarsegold, CA, - Matthew Jasper of San Diego, CA-Aaron Jasper of Evansville, IN- Andrew Jasper of Bloomington, IN- Timothy Jasper of Marysville, OH and Justin Rankin of Newport, KY, along with five great grandchildren, Amelia and Adler Warmbier, Gavin and Kelton Jasper and Lilly Jasper; brother, Gerald Jasper of Louisville, KY.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Fry�(TM)s Valley Moravian Church with Rev. Patricia Honszer officiating. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
