George F. ''Fred'' Hawk, 92, of New Philadelphia and a Bolivar resident for over 50 years, died Thursday, November 23, 2000 in Union Hospital after a brief illness.
In 1973, Fred retired as an employee for Lawrence Twp.
Born, June 14, 1908 at Sherrodsville, he was son of the late Jacob F. & Julia McClain Hawk.
He was a member of the Jerusalem Church of New Philadelphia and had been a longtime member of St. Johns United Church of Christ at Bolivar. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling and woodworking.
Fred was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Brown Hawk, who died in 1939, and his second wife, Margaret Swegheimer, who passed away in 1986.
He is survived by his third wife Laura Hawk Beitzel Hawk, whom he wed on March 15, 1988.

19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren
In addition to his parents and first & second wives, Fred was preceded in death by two daughters, Wilma Wayne and Pauline Haynes; brothers, Chester & Roland Hawk and sister, Esta Parrish and 1 great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, at 2:30pm in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Dr. Terry Downin officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Friday from 7-9pm, and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
