George Googash, 87, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly in Branson, Missouri on November 17, 2001.
He was born May 3, 1914 at New Philadelphia.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Googash and his sisters; Sylvia Googash of Romania, Mary Weber of Youngstown, and Lena Robertson of Alliance.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn to whom he was married for 62 years, his two children; Carol Lemasters of New Philadelphia and Steven J. Googash of West Carrollton, Ohio, and a sister Victoria Hennon of Sebring, Ohio. In addition, he has five grandchildren, Bruce Lemasters and Doug Lemasters of New Philadelphia, Jon Lemasters of Kingsland, Georgia, Jeff Lemasters of Strasburg, and Jason Googash of Athens, Ohio. He also has 6 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was retired from Wallick Coal of Strasburg and E & L Corporation of Canton. In retirement he followed his passions of traveling, camping and fishing.
He was truly a lucky man for he commented one day that he had seen and done everything that he had wanted to do in his life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 23, at 11:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Perry Ross officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7pm.
