George M. Henry, 87, of Dover, Ohio died Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a brief illness.
He founded Henry Heating and Cooling at Dover in 1960 and operated it for forty years until his retirement. He had previously worked for the Frigidaire Division of General Motors where he taught refrigeration.
Born August 10, 1918 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, the son of the late Homer and Josephine Davidson Henry.
George served as a Captain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he taught boating safety and navigation. He served as Past President of the Exchange Club. He was a graduate of Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He was an avid hobby farmer all of his life.
George is survived by his wife Ruth Jones Henry with whom he would have celebrated 56 years of marriage this May 29; Two sons, Dave (Kelly) Henry of Dover and Steve (Erika) Henry of Broadview Heights; one daughter, Joan (Mike) Fondriest of Strasburg along with three grandchildren, Katie, Jackie, and Rayna.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jayme and four brothers, Arthur, Earl, Clyde, and Raymond Henry.
At his request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 11am in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah�(TM)s Witnesses in New Philadelphia with a reception to follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday from 5-8pm.
